Making Magpie, Update #11

February brought us together in Oakland, CA for our Dresher Ensemble Artist Residency (DEAR), hosted by the Paul Dresher Ensemble. Over nine days, we retooled our Magpie material into a seamless, 27 minute work-in-progress. February 9, we hosted an informal showing and discussion at the studio, and we rounded out the residency with a video shoot with Taylor Joshua Rankin.

On May 15, 6p PST / 8p CST / 9p EST, we’re hosting a YouTube premiere (free!) to share Taylor’s beautiful video. Come hang out on YouTube and see what we made/are making! We look forward to passing notes with you in the chat feature while our video plays.

Thank You, Omaha Under the Radar!

I'm just getting home after my second year performing K A T E S work at Omaha Under the Radar, and I'm really stinking happy that I was there. Of course, we loved performing Two Voices for everyone (which we did at Project Project on opening night - photo by Aleks Karjaka below!), but the real joy is in the exchange - seeing other artists do their thing, chatting people up, and getting to know the city of Omaha. If you get the chance to attend this festival, I hope you'll take it... and I hope I'll see you there!
